Bonne galette !

Kings and Queens of Loppiainen

Once upon a time, it is good to share some old tradition and I am planning to introduce a French tradition to Finnish culture this year ! For Loppiainen, the day of Epiphany, a national holiday in Finland, Finns are traditionally celebrating the end of Christmas’ days… A good occasion to organize another family meeting and to share… a beautiful galette des rois! Unknown here, this Pithiviers tradition and the discovery of a fève (charm), is to me pretty close to the spirit of sharing Christmas porridge on Christmas day. Our little one is still too small to go and hide under the table to decide who is going to get this piece of cake but we will do another one next year, it is a deal! Finding a fève in Finland is the biggest challenge here, that is why I brought some in my French luggages…

This little note is also a good opportunity to well start 2012 and wish you a happy new year. I took also some resolutions: especially to make progress in Finnish language, to help our little one to grow up well, and maybe to make some of my dreams come true… and to fit right into my new country.

Bonne galette!
